Review: Hukuya

Arghhh uni has started and the amount of draft posts is piling up on me. Was really craving sushi one week so I grabbed my friends and urbanspooned this place in Eastwood, perfectly situated just opposite the train station on the "Korean" side. Although, this dinner wasn't very filling for us, someone made us have a $90 budget which we fit in, but I would say ordering the same amount of dishes as people would really fill you up.
You can see the chef preparing the sashimi
Deluxe Sashimi Platter - $38ish
A wide variety of kingfish, octopus, squid, salmon and tuna.
All beautifully presented and tasted fresh. Only complaint,
wish they had more even proportions of each seafood, just look
at how much salmon they gave but so little octopus :(
p.s. for a person who isn't a big fan of raw fish to say this was nice,
is a pretty big compliment
Salmon Roll - $15
Good as any other I've tried. Salmon was fresh, just like in the sashimi with a
nice addition of caviar and good size.
Unagi Roll - $15
Ahh I just love eel, even though some times it can be chewy,
this one definitely wasn't and no little bones left in either.
Had a really nice flavour, would've liked more of the mayo (I just love that stuff).
Soft Shell Crab Roll - $15
Last but not least, my favourite of the night.
This took a while to come out, so that was a negative,
would've liked all food served more promptly.
The crab had such a nice crunch which really contrasted with
the normal softness of sushi. It was seasoned well with salt and pepper
and complemented the avocado nicely.
