Review: White Mojo

A newly opened Cafe in Melbourne CBD, just opposite Hardware Societe. White Mojo is instafamous for their instaworthy food, but surprisingly they never seem to be too busy. We went as a group of 4 on a Saturday for brunch and there were plenty of empty tables. Prices are quite expensive, even for a CBD cafe.

Latte - $4
Serving sizes seemed smaller than 8oz, but it was really good
I even contemplated getting a second. It was so smooth and well
balanced, but just a bit too much froth for a latte. Felt more like
a cappuccino, and I wanted more coffee, not froth.
Chai - $4.50
I have Calmer Sutra chai at home and this one strangely did not taste
as good. The spices weren't as robust and balanced. It was quite sweet,
and I don't if they added extra honey or sugar. Again, there was a lot of
froth and not enough actually chai to drink.
Mexican Omelette w/ Grilled Salmon - $24
Beautiful presentation and good breakfast take on Mexican nachos,
but sadly I don't think the corn chips worked, and there definitely needed to
be a salsa or sauce to make the dish less dry. Lovely flavours throughout though
and the salmon was cooked to perfection.
Squid Ink Brioche Pork Burger - $23
Lovely marinated pork but minimal other fillings. The sauce
also lacked flavour. Definitely didn't beat Kitty Burn's
KB Burger
Salmon Tartare - $21
Lovely presentation, but small serving, not even to feed my male friend.
The crisp bagels were an interesting concept, but quite thick and hard.
Don't eat it if you have bad teeth. My friend would've preferred a normal
bagel or bread. Otherwise great flavours and fresh salmon
White Mojo Croissant Burger - $24
I really wanted to try the lobster burger, but they changed it to soft shell crab
before I had the chance to. Either way it tasted great, the crab was nice
and crispy, but not too oily or thick on the batter. I found the egg kind of
unnecessary, but made it feel like more of a breakfast dish.
I enjoyed the pickled vegetables but would've liked more. That
spicy mayo was superb though and presentation was on point,
though serving size is small.
