Review: Jake and the Beans Talk

Can't believe I never saw this place on Waverley Rd, considering I drive past all the time. Jake and the Beans Talk is a lovely pun. The menu was quite simplistic considering other brunch offerings in Melbourne and the staff weren't all the nicest either. Overall, I rate it an average experience, but it definitely is popular amongst the locals.

Mango Tango - $8
Really thick and creamy. Loved the flavours, the mango really shone through.
A great drink for a warm summer's day
Cookies and Cream Shake
I loved the thickness of this shake. It wasn't too icy, with
heaps of crushed oreos within.
Mushroom scramble and pumpkin harissa
This originally came with rocket, but I can't eat rocket and they didn't offer
me a replacement. The dish had lovely flavours. The portobello mushrooms were
roasted well, although they made the toast soggy and could've done with some seasoning.
The harissa was the best part of the dish, strong flavours, creamy paste. It worked really well
with the eggs which were a bit bland.
Eggs Benny - $19.90
Small serving size. The hollandaise was quite bland and buttery.
The pulled pork was marinated and cooked well. Wasn't the best benny
we've had.
