Review: Two Fat Indians

Probably one of the best Indian restaurants I've been to in Melbourne. The establishment is well furnished with a large bar and mood lighting. Definitely worthy of a first date venue, but without the expensive price tag. Prices are slightly dearer compared to other Indian restaurants, but you get what you pay for.

Aloo Tikki Chaat - $10
Never tried this before but it was really nice and presented
beautifully, in a modern way. The little potato morsels were
pillowy and crunchy with nice salads
on top and dipping sauces.
Mango Lassi
You can see the unequal portions. However, these lassi were thick and creamy
with a good balance of sweet and sour and not so artificially orange.
Like western restaurants serve bread rolls/sticks, here you get pappadams,
which are way better in my opinion.

Lamb Rogan Josh - $24
Slightly spicy, but definitely tolerable. This curry was a lot more chunky
than the butter chicken below. The flavours were strong. However, the cooking
of the meat was uneven with some pieces tough and other pieces really tender.
Although there was no sinew, bone or off-cuts.

Butter Chicken - $23
A really creamy, sweet and mild curry with that nice smoky flavour.
The chicken was prepared and cooked well. Plus there was a generous
proportion of meat within the curry, unlike some places that
just give a heap of sauce.
Garlic Naan - $5
I prefer naan over rice anyday. This naan just had some garlic butter brushed on top.
I would've preferred if garlic was mixed into the dough.
Size is also smaller than what you get from a cheap Indian restaurant/takeaway
Saffron Rice - $4 (single serve)
I honestly can never taste the saffron in rice because
it's so minimal and not cooked through.
Really just tasted like normal basmati to me.
Single serve is enough for two people.
