Review: Sokyo (Breakfast Buffet)

Having heard so many good things about Sokyo's breakfast buffet. I decided to treat myself and a friend to a fancy breakfast here.

The breakfast buffet is quite reasonably priced at $28pp or $38pp if you add an a la carte dish, both include a tea or coffee. You can also order just an a la carte dish and hot drink for $22.50 and sneakily eat other people's buffet treats. Unless you order a la carte dishes, there is sadly no hot food available, apart from congee. There is a tonne of savoury and sweet pastries, processed meats and cheeses to available though. They also offer free juices, but hot drinks are extra.

Overall a very enjoyable dining experience, with friendly staff, and because it was my friends' birthday they even brought out a cute dessert on a decorated plate.

Sokyo Seafood Bowl
A lovely variety of toothfish, salmon, octopus, fish roe and salads
on a bed of seasoned rice with an onsen egg on top. The 3 coloured fish
roe really made the dish pop. A lovely fresh dish for a summer breakfast
but too cold for winter. It is good to get a hot a la carte item as most
of the buffet offerings are cold.

Eggs Benedict
w/ streaky bacon, poached eggs, brioche, miso hollandaise, ponzu pearls and
edemame. Not a large serving size and beautifully presented, leaving room
to gorge yourself on the buffet offerings after

  2. Nice - $28 per person for a breakfast buffet is an ok price.
