Review: Maedaya

Another post from a while ago, pre-concert dinner before we saw the epic Maroon 5 perform! The night truly was highlight, great food, beautiful music and amazing company. Maedaya has such nice decor, with an open grill where you can see them cooking and an extensive bar with a huge range of sake.

Avocado Roll - $15
Lovely sushi! Rice was light and soft. The avocado was creamy as was
the Japanese mayo. The salmon inside was perfect. Only complaint
was I could have done with more of the spicy sauce.
Sumiyaki Mixed Grill Platter - $15
A variety of their popular skewers and we loved most of them.
The Inari Kushi had a lovely texture with the crisp shell, and was
really flavoursome. The tsukune was a bit dry for us but we loved
the sauce, even though it didn't really combat the dryness of the meat.
The negima dn yakitori were both excellently marinated, moist and
full of flavour. The chicken definitely had a better texture than the beef.
Finally the pork belly again was well marinated and seasoned. The meat
itself was quite fatty and not as enjoyable to eat because of this.
Chicken Karaage
The fried chicken was excellent, also LOVED that spicy mayo,
if only they gave more of it, it really did pack a great punch.
The little slaw on the side was also dressed well and might just
seem like a garnish, but it really went well with the chicken.
Matcha Pudding
Lovely flavour, not too sweet. The pudding was really light
and almost mousse like, but unfortunately it was a bit grainy
and thus not the best pudding I've had.
