Humble Rays is a lovely Asian fusion cafe in Carlton, a short walk from Melb Central, RMIT or UniMelb. Very popular on the weekends! We had to wait 30 minutes for a table. Once inside, I loved the decor and the food was delicious! My favourite was the almond meal muffin, like a macaron and muffin in one!

Left: Ice Matcha Latte - $6
Pure matcha latte, I prefer mine with a bit of sugar,
but sadly it wasn't added in and sugar doesn't really
dissolve in ice cold drinks.
Right: Ice Hojicha Latte - $6
A slightly sweeter drink. I love hot hojicha tea and
this didn't disappoint. A bit strong as well, like the matcha
but I liked it. |

Chicken Hot Sauce Burger - $16.50
One of the best brunch burgers I've had. The chicken was glazed in
a lovely korean chilli sauce with a slight kick. There was tonnes
of vegetables and slaw in the dish, very saucy and moist. The chicken
was very moist. Only negative was it didn't come with any sides
and the bun wasn't really toasted and a bit deflated as pictured. |

Eggs Benny - $19.50
Lovely thick, miso braised pork belly. The flavour was great
but the meat was not as tender as expected and as with pork belly,
quite fatty. Sadly there was only 1 poached egg, I prefer 2 as it makes
the dish more proportional. I loved the chilli bacon jam and parsley crumb.
Both added another textural and flavour element to the dish.
The bread was not really necessary for the dish as there wasn't much sauce to
soak up. Maybe a hash instead or some more hollandaise to added more
moisture to the dish.  |

Cranberry and White Chocolate Cupcake - $6
I loved this cupcake, rather than being made of flour, it was
made of meal, giving it that crispy, light and chewy macaron like texture.
I did find it quite sweet, but the cranberries did add some tartness
and the cream cheese frosting added some savoury notes.
Overall, a lovely, different version of the classic cupcake with loads of
flavours that will please any sweet tooth. |
