Working Out Before Pigging Out

On Monday 06/01/2013 I had an outing with my lovely friends. It was a good day of exercise and food. Firstly we went bicentennial park for bike riding. Lisa and Raph didn't want to join, so they just hanged at Lillie's cafe. I love bicentennial park, and I love bike riding, so you can say it's a match made in heaven. Bicentennial park is a large expanse of grassland, playgrounds and picnic areas, that is perfect for exploring on bike, as on foot would take forever. We hired bikes from Bike Hire @ Olympic Park. They have a decent rate I believe, haven't been to other bike hire places, so can't compare. We hired 5 bikes for $20 each, for 2 hours. They offer a 15% discount for groups of 10 or more. My legs did feel like jelly for a bit after, but it was good to finally get some exercise, that just felt like fun!

Afterwards we headed to Burwood via the 525 bus, to have lunch at George's Cafe. The venue was average, a nice cafe with mixture of chairs and booths. The service that day was pretty bad however, only 1 waiter was working, with about 5-10 tables to manage. I felt sorry for her, but also for my grumbling tummy. My fault for not having a proper breakfast I guess. The food was average priced, $15-25 range, with the main cuisine being Italian. We ordered 2 pastas, a risotto and chicken with sides of salad and chips. I'm sorry I don't remember the exact name's of the dishes and I was unable to take photographs as they began digging in before I could. However, the food was tasty, and big enough servings to share between 2, so we ordered 4 dishes amongst 7 people. Supposedly their desserts are a must, however the others weren't willing to pay the price tag, with most fetching over $10 each and servings looked like single serve.

Instead, we headed to Meet Fresh for dessert. For those that don't know, Meet Fresh is a taiwanese dessert chain that specialises in crushed ice and toppings. We bought the red bean and supreme mango snow ice, that came with vanilla ice cream and mango sorbet on top, respectively. I loved the flavour of the ice and mango balls, however I also ordered extra taro ball toppings and only got 3 pieces, which left me feeling scammed. The vanilla ice-cream was nice, sometimes classic is best, but the ice was more bland. Both dishes were $8.80 each, and big enough to share between 2-3 people depending on our greedy you are :P I always love Meet Fresh, its one of those casual dining venues where you can go for a light snack and quick catch up with friends. They also make drinks and waffles now, which makes the experience even better!
