Review: Sumalee

One of the most popular restaurants in Bentleigh and for a good reason. They're menu just looked so superb we couldn't help but over order. Even the waiter questioned our massive order, but hey, we just doggy bagged the leftovers and it was fine. Also the staff and chef are all super friendly and make sure that the food is to your standard.

Chai Latte
Sumalee Salad - $13.90
One of my favourite salads I've had anywhere. Great variety of
ingredients. The walnuts added crunch, the feta added a pop of sour and salt, the apple
added a bit of sweet juiciness and the avocado added creaminess.  The salad leaves
were fresh and crispnand proportions of the ingredients were good.  Overall great
flavour and texture combinations created an excitement of sensations in my mouth.
Crispy Caramelised Pork Belly - $20.90
A top dish, although serving size is small, presentation was beautiful.
Although I didn't feel the separate components went together on the dish
individually they tasted great. The scallops were cooked perfectly, great
texture. The pork itself, glazed well and a super crispy crackling with
not too much fat. The asian greens had been fried off, leaving them crispy
and light with that charred flavour.

Pad Thai - $14.90
My favourite presentation of the night. The egg net was just so beautiful
and delicate, I didn't want to break it. The pad thai itself was a generous
serving, heaps of meat and condiments within the egg net.
Great flavours but I would've liked a bit more sauce.
Massaman Lamb Curry - $20.90
Soft tender lamb, falling off the shank. A more sweet massaman,
which some may prefer, but I like mine with some spice. Good amount
of root vegetables as well.
Pyramid Rice - $3
One of the most beautiful servings of rice I've ever seen,
layers of barley, sticky rice and white rice. Great subtle variety
of flavours and textures and excellent presentation.
