Review: Palate

One of Prahran's many health food restaurants, with so many green juice stores it's hard to keep up. Palate is known for it's paleo menu, but not everything in store is paleo and there are options to suit all.

Refresher Fresh Juice - $7.50
Pricier fresh juice but great flavour combination and
I loved all the pulp!
Lamb Ragout Soft Tortilla - $17
I wouldn't say it is anything like a ragout. The lamb definitely wasn't cooked
in a sauce, but rather slow cooked in broth. The mix of flavours worked really well
but I would've liked a bit more betroot. I enjoyed that they used spinach instead of rocket.
Chicken and Avocado Toasted Turkish Bread - $17 (+$3 chips)
A simple but classic dish. Well toasted sandwich with flavourful ingredients.
The chips were also fried well, crisp exterior and pillowy centre
with good amount of herb seasoning.
Dukkha Coated Poached Eggs with Quinoa - $16.50
Vegetarian and gluten friendly option. Quinoa was cooked well
with good flavours from the cauliflower puree and haloumi. Could've
done with more dukkha on the plate and some roast vegetables
would have made it a well balanced meal.
House made Gnocchi  PIllows - $23
Now this was true lamb ragout, excellent flavours and light gnocchi,
but serving size as you can see was appallingly small, especially
for the price. Really wouldn't fill anyone up.
Corn Kale Fritters - $17
Classic breakfast item. Loved the addition of the chilli jam,
brought more life to the dish. The fritters were a bit dense,
but overall good on seasoning and flavour.
