Matcha Mylkbar is the plant-based cafe of Melbourne. Based in St Kilda, it is always busy and insta-famous for their matcha dishes, plethora of coffee alternative drinks and those vegan "eggs".

Clockwise: Matcha Latte - $6 A more mild matcha than I like but still nice and good for those who haven't tried matcha before. Cacao Latte - $6 Like a dark hot chocolate but lighter in consistency, made with Mork Mushroom Latte - $6 The worst of the lot, super bitter, actually did remind me of Chinese medicine although I've never heard of Chaga mushroom before. No amount of sugar helped. |

Corn Fritters - $20 Thick corn fritters with crispy kale, cauliflower, saffron hollandaise and poached eggs. The poached eggs I believe are made from coconut milk/cream and a turmeric yolk. Although I commend them on their imitation efforts to me although the texture was similar, the flavours were too strong and opposing. The fritters were also too thick and dense, would have liked to corn to be creamed a bit. The kale and cauliflower were nicely fried though and the hollandaise was of a nice texture and flavour and yes also vegan. |

BBQ pulled jack fruit - $4 Added to the corn fritters dish. I have seen the recipe for this floating around on the internet but was scared to make it at home without trying it first. I actually really enjoyed it. It's more of like a pulled fruit consistency, bit watery. The sauce made it taste more savoury but was more of a tomato rather than BBQ flavour. |

Matcha Burger - $20 A nice vegan patty with vegetables and hummus on a matcha bun. The matcha bun didn't taste much like matcha which was good, and the patty was crispy and tasty too. The sweet potato fries were great! Nice, crispy and sweet. |

Matcha Pancakes - $20 Loved these pancakes, best dish of the day. The pancakes themselves were light, well cooked with a slight matcha sweetness. However, I did not like the chocolate sauce. The fruit combination also did not suit the dish. I liked the lychee, berries and nuts but the pear did not belong. The ice cream, however, was a nice, lovely mild flavour and great consistency. |
