Review: Stanley

Another addition from the team behind Bentwood and Tinker. Stanley is one of the new cafes that opened this year alongside their other cafe, Clubhouse. I decided to try out Stanley, a few weeks after they opened, and boy was it a busy weekend. Had to wait 30 minutes for a table on a Saturday around 11am. The space also isn't that large with about 15 tables in door and minimal outdoor seating.

Latte - $4
Lovely flavour and body. Slightly higher price than the average coffee.

Breaky Smoothie - $10.50
Literally granola blended up into a drink. Mix of berries, granola,
betroot, honey, yoghurt and OJ. Not too sweet, lovely flavours
and not too grainy. Not worth the price though and a bit on
the small size compared to other cafes/stores.

Nutella Milkshake - $8
Well flavoured and decent size but I prefer
mine a bit more viscous.

Nutella Hong Kong Waffles - $20
Not my favourite hong kong waffles but still quite tasty and filling.
The waffle itself was quite plain and lacked sweetness.
Although brown in colour, it didn't have any nutella or chocolate flavour,
the nutella instead was just spread onto the waffle. The marscapone added
creaminess to the dish but I always prefer ice cream. I loved the fruits as they
added some sweetness and balanced the sweetness of the nutella.
The raspberry puree also added some nice sour notes. I loved the
crunchy crushed pistachios, added nice texture and a savoury note to the dish.

Sriracha Salmon Flora Bowl - $19.50
Like a sushi bowl, filled with brown rice, pickles, cabbage, edamame,
avocado etc. and a nice large fillet of pan fried salmon.
The salmon was cooked well, but I would've preferred the skin to be
more crispy. There was a lovely variety of other toppings and the chilli
profile was mild. Lovely for a warm day. Very filling

Beef Brisket Benny - $19
Small portion size compared to the above two dishes and not worth the price.
Most importantly, the eggs were poached well. The waffle was soft and crispy,
and I loved the taste. The beef was tender but needed
some sauce or seasoning for itself. There was also not enough hollandaise
but it did have a nice jalapeno kick. The eggs were also poached well.
