Review: Juno & May

Had a Good Food gift card that was about to expire so I searched for any brunch options nearby. While the search functionality on the gfgc website isn't great, I did manage to find Juno & May, a beautiful cafe on Burke Road in the always popular Camberwell Junction area.

Left: Chai Latte
Quite a bitter chai, for those that like their chai
a bit more hot, in terms of spice, with lots of tumeric and cinnamon on top.
Right: Banana Milkshake
I wasn't a fan. It's always hit and miss with milkshakes for me.
Hit - when they use natural flavouring or flavoured ice-cream
Miss - when they use artificial topping flavours.

The Irish Breakfast
w/ kaiserfleisch, potato hash, black pudding, pea and corn smash,
poached eggs and toast. Overall I loved all the components on the
dish but it was really salty and thus I couldn't finish it. I loved the
flavour of the pea and corn smash but it had a strong chicken stock
flavour that was really salty. The little potato bites, fried well, but again
seasoned with salt. Loved the black pudding, not too salty, but the kairserfleisch
was salty. The only things to cut through the salt were the egg and bread. Would
have loved some sort of creamy sauce to add some extra moisture and cut through
some of the salt. Otherwise, a lovely dish!

Eggs Benedict
Lovely piece of potato hash with poached eggs, hollandaise, bacon,
broccolini and a beetroot puree. Lovely flavours and I liked the
broccolini as it made the dish more complete: protein, carbs and veg.
Only negative was more hollandaise please! Just to cut through the super
crispy hash.
