Review: The Artful Dodger

From a while back, that time we were waiting for our Lune orders, and decided to grab some early morning breakfast (not brunch) for a change. Conveniently located next to Elsternwick station, Artful Dodger is a large indoor and outdoor space and excellent place to grab a coffee to go. If you love their food, be sure to also visit their two other cafes, Whyte Cafe & School of 7 Bells.

Soy Latte - $3.80
I'm not a big fan of soy based coffee, I just feel the flavours
don't blend and the texture is extra grainy.
Skim Mocha - $3.80
I really enjoyed this coffee, very smooth and not too bitter
and the chocolate added enough sweetness.
Dodgers 15' Benedict - $17.50
Not the best benedict we've had. The lavender hollandaise had
good flavour, but I needed a bit more mustard in there. The
serving size was generous and all elements were cooked well,
the bacon crispy, the mushrooms juicy.
Sweet Potato Rosti - $19.50
I really enjoyed this dish, however, the salmon to rosti ratio
was way off for me, I could've finished all the salmon with one
rosti. The creme fraiche and pea puree were superb, great flavour
and texture, not lumpy at all or too heavy.
The rosti themselves were inconsistent. The first one was really nicely
fried with a crunchy exterior and light texture, however,
the next one was really heavy and moist. The sweet potato flavour
was also super strong and could've been dialled down with some salt
and spices.
