Review: Baotime

Been wanting to try this place since it opened doors earlier this year. Their menu definitely has expanded with a variety of small dishes, bao and desserts. If I had to compare with Wonderbao, I would definitely recommend Wonderbao, just because of the cheaper price, variety of bao and overall quality. For a good sit down meal, I recommend Baotime, and with time, I'm sure their menu will blossom and their tables will flood with people (e.g. the "to share" menu wasn't even a thing when we went a few weeks ago).

p.s. they have amazing wall art

Cuckoo Bao - $6.50
Oozing with sauce, but sadly very little chicken, and bao is
no place for salad when there are plenty of better vegetables to include.
Pickled daikon or carrots or even plain cucumber would've been nicer.
Also, I didn't find this spicy at all and I think the spice really would've
helped kick through the creamy sauce, which tasted amazing.
Chilli Crab Bao - $9.50
Well fried crab, just wasn't much meat in it, and I didn't find
it to be spicy, more like sweet chilli than chilli, but definitely
had that authentic chilli crab flavour.
Captain Bao - $7.50
The best bao of the night. Really well braised pork, strong
flavour but as above, lack of other substantial ingredients
e.g. wintermelon, which would've heightened the level of flavour.
Durian Bao - $6
So small for the price, looked like miniature food on that plate.
In terms of flavour, I loved both the bao and the ice-cream.
If you are a bit durian fan I definitely recommend, but they
should improve on their serving size; the ice-cream scoop
was smaller than a kids scoop.
Nutella Baonut - $6
One of the specials. Thus tasted amazing! Nuttle is always great,
loved the texture of the baked bao, crunchy exterior with a
soft, pillowy inside. Presentation was also A+
