Review: Third Wave Cafe

Craving some good old American ribs and BBQ meat, head to one of Third Waves' two venues to get your fix. Their meats are saucy and served with fries, and they have a great range of accompaniments.

BBQ Pork Ribs - $29 (half rack)
Saucy, melt in the mouth pork. The meat was so soft and flavoursome.
Really well cooked and smoked. Price is a bit dear, but definitely worth
a try especially if you enjoy bourbon BBQ.
BBQ Chicken - $19 (half chicken)
Not as good as the ribs. The chicken was just too dry and not
as saucy. The chicken is said to be marinated overnight but it felt like
no flavour had been absorbed into the meat and that is was simply just a glaze.
Beer Battered Chips - $7
Lovely crunchy thick cut chips with pillowy potato inside. Good
amount of seasoning too. We asked for some aoili which
they kindly offered.
Russian Potato Salad - $9
Being Russian, I know what a good quality potato salad is and this
was pretty close. They were very generous with the amount of
chicken in the salad and had a good ratio of potato to frozen vegetable trio.
The cream dressing was a bit too thick and lacked that sour punch.
Overall still a great side dish but would've been better meat free
to accompany the BBQ meat.
Spicy Chicken Wings - $9.50
Lightly spicy, well marinated and lovely sesame topping. The chicken
was cooked so well, really succulent, loved it!
Left: Vanilla Milkshake - $8.90
Classic vanilla flavour, but again strong on the syrup
and poor consistency.
Right: Bubblegum Milkshake - $10.90
Definitely over priced and not worth the money.
The consistency was a bit light and the flavour very artificial,
although I guess that's what you expect from bubblegum. It
felt like they had just used syrup though.
