Review: Cafe Oratnek

A lovely Japanese fusion cafe set in the suburban streets of Redfern. They have a sister cafe, Kentora (Oratnek backwards) a little further up the road in Surry Hills. Went here last Summer with my girlfriends and had a fabulous meal, although we did have to wait around 30 minutes for a table.

Matcha French Toast - $16
LOVED IT!
Although towards the end it did get a bit sweet and dry.
The french toast was light, not too eggy with a lovely salty match flavour.
There were also some banana chips, fresh strawberries and matcha cream.
I would've preferred plain cream or yoghurt to balance the matcha flavour out,
and I would've preferred more fresh fruit to cut through the sweetness

Chicken Burger
I didn't eat this, but did have some of the fries and there were wonderfully
seasoned with a salty herb seasoning.

Pork Katsu Sandwich - $15
A classic Japanese dish, my friend said the meat was a bit dry but otherwise nice.
Simple and reasonably priced

Matcha Tiramisu
Loved it! Not on the menu, and was not displayed in the dessert cabinet
but ask the staff for it. It's layers of sponge cake and mousse with a crunchy bottom.
Lovely balance of sweet, salty and bitter matcha.
