Review: Penta

Went here when it recently opened in Elsternwick. Lovely large modern space, was super popular, had to wait for a table for 2. The cafe is managed by a bunch of successful cafe managers from Temperance Society, Legacy etc.

Mango Smoothie - $9.50
Lovely mango flavour, thick and creamy, with chia seeds on top adding
a bit of crunch. Delicious but not sure if it's worth the price.

Big Deal - $23.50
Lovely presentation!
A burger combo served diner style with a beef burger, fries, aoili and choice of shake.
The burger was simple with a patty, tomato, lettuce, cheese and sauce, with a lovely
fresh brioche bun. Loved the sauces and the patty was cooked well. The highlight
for me was the fries, which were crispy and light with a nice herb seasoning and the
aoili was strong, just how I like it. My friend chose a Nutella shake, which was kind of
watery and mild in flavour.

Penta Benedict - $19.50
The braised beef cheeks were cooked well. The eggs were also poached on point, but
the hollandaise had split and essentially tasted of melted butter. I enjoyed the flavour of
the sweet potato waffles but they were quite dense and I didn't enjoy the bits
of sun-dried tomatoes within.
