Review: Mr Brightside

Not to be mistaken by The Killer's hit song, this little cafe in Caulfield South is beautifully designed with an open beam ceiling and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The staff weren't the most attentive, but the food was good and overall it was an enjoyable experience.

Banana Milkshake - $5.50
A regrettable choice. Was just an artificial, super sweet milkshake. I
was expecting something natural, made in house, but good for kids who
like that sugary hit I suppose (or a cheat day).

Chai  Tea - $5
They use calmer sutra chai which I am not the biggest fan of, if you prefer
more bitter and spicy chai then this is for you. You can also buy the chai online it
and brew it at home.

Big Breakfast - $22
Really was BIG. Came with 2 potato hash browns, tomatoes, sausage, 2 poached eggs,
toast and bacon. I would say the hash browns were more like potato nests. They were really crispy
but lacked that inner pocket of soft potato. The croquette (below) was definitely better.
The eggs were poached well, the bacon could've have been crispier but the sausages were cooked
well. Definitely for one with a big appetite. We couldn't finish both our dishes.

Potato Croquette
Came with sausage, an avocado/salsa combo, baked beans and poached egg.
Really filling but a little dry.  The baked beans didn't have much sauce,
so the only "sauce" came from the runny egg yolk. Otherwise the croquette was creamy
and well seasoned as was the avo but the sausage was slightly overcooked.
