I was fortunate enough to be invited to dine at
Dosa Hut in Footscray. A chain store of authentic South Indian cuisine in Melbourne and now in other states too. The staff curated a variety of Indo-Chinese and South Indian dishes to try. They were all really tasty and filling. My highlights were the crispy goat and the samosas. We definitely had more than enough food and drinks for the two of us and left very satisfied.

Mango Lassi Lovely tangy, sweet flavour and that thick yoghurt consistency. Yum! |
|
Vegetable Samosas Very crispy skin that wasn't too thick with a nice spicy filling. Careful to let out some steam before taking a big bite as it will burn your mouth. The Indian BBQ sauce was a beautiful dipping accompaniment, adding some tang and sweetness. |

Chef Special Dosa The all in one dosa. Combining severe chutneys, sambal, masala and curries (lamb, chicken and paneer). I love the chutneys and sambal, and always order these with my dosa. I also loved the masala potatoes that you roll into the dosa. The curry condiments I found the be a bit dry and not as flavoursome without the curry gravy. The dosa itself was cooked well, crispy, light and soft at the same time. Very filling serving size. |

Crispy Goat A lovely crispy shallow fried mix of goat and sauteed vegetables. The marinade was really tasty, not very spicy but with a nice umami flavour. Actually reminded me a lot of a Chinese lamb dish my mother makes. My favourite main dish of the night. |
|
Chicken 65 Lovely moist chicken pieces coated in a spicy crispy batter. The chicken was well cooked and the spicy caramel like glaze was superb. I don't know if this is their regular serving size but it isn't really a sharing size. Made for max. 2 people. |
|
Paneer 65 Lovely crispy batter filled with soft paneer cheese and covered in a midly sweet and spicy marinade. Loved the flavours and the textures and although it was very oily, with the cheese and deep frying, it didn't taste that way and wasn't too heavy. A squeeze of lemon added some acidity to cut throught. |
