Review: Local Mbassy

A lovely little cafe overlooking Wentworth Park. Local Mbassy is instafamous for their brightly coloured dishes and I couldn't resist. The staff are very friendly and the vintage decor is enviable.

Taro Frappe - $8.50
A lovely mildly sweet taro frappe, and not too icy.
If you like taro, you'll like this.

Rainbow Crepe Cake
Sadly this looks better than it taste. It tasted like it had been made in
advanced and left out to sit. The crepes were chewy and dense. The cream
icing was dry and hard like it had gone stale. Overall not very flavoursome
and the texture was bad.

Trio of Burgers - $19.50
A trio of slider versions of three of the burgers on the menu: chicken, beef
and falafel.  My favourite one had to be the chicken burger. It was spicy, crispy
and that mayo gave it some fresh acidity. Overall a flavourful and juicy
slider. The next best was the beef burger. A generous thick patty made it hard
to eat but very tasty. My least liked was the falafel just because it was too dry and
needed some sauce. I also would've liked if all the buns were slightly toasted.

Open Lamb Melt - $17
A mix between a melt and croque madame.
A simple, tasty dish. The lamb was cooked well, with a lovely sauce.
The egg was cooked sunny side up and the sandwich was definitely cheesy.
But, overall not worth $17 for essentially a sandwich with a fried egg.
