Review: Down N' Out Ryde

The closest we have to In N Out down under. Down N' Out now has two locations in Sydney, serving a variety of burgers, sides and drinks. They regularly have special burgers on offer as well. I visited the Ryde location, situated just off the piazza area of Top Ryde. The staff were friendly and there was plenty of seating available on a weekday lunch time. The restaurant has a nice modern decor with comic strip art throughout.

Chocolate Thickshake
One of the best thickshakes I've ever had. Loved
the crunchy toppings and chocolate drizzle. The
thickshake itself had a lovely creamy consistency
and good amount of chocolate flavour. Definitely worth it.

Jalapeno Poppers - $8
I love jalapeno poppers but they're hard to find in Australia, unless you
have a Costco membership. These were not traditional jalapeno poppers.
Rather they were deep fried cornichons with sliced jalapenos on top.
Still tasted alright, because I like pickles, but would've loved actual fried
jalapenos instead.

Vego Burger - $12
Not the best veggie burger I've had, but pretty decent for $12.
Firstly, I like my buns toasted and these weren't. The burger wasn't dry but
still needed some more flavour and juiciness. Some more kick ass sauce
would've added more life to the burger or spices in the crumbed mushroom.
The crumbed mushroom was cooked well, crispy and the batter helped keep in the juices.
The amount of vegies inside is very generous and filling.
Overall a decent and different vegie burger to your classic chickpea or bean patty.
