Had a hectic last day in Melbourne. DFO had a special long weekend VIP sale event that I just had to go to (too see my shopping haul click here:
http://culinaryrunway.blogspot.com.au/2015/07/shopping-haul-dfo-queens-birthday-long.html). Then we made a quick dash to Wonderbao for a takeaway lunch on our way to the Richmond Food Truck Park for a free serving of Jay's Yoghurt. All in all a great day was had, still managed to pack in between and ended the night on a high at a good friend's 21st.

Left: Braised Pork Belly - $4.90
For a braised meat, the pork was quite tough and dry, hard to bite off.
Otherwise, the flavours were good, but personally it could've done with less coriander
Right: Roast Pork Belly - $4.90
This one tasted a lot better. Good flavours in the pickled vegetables.
Hoisin always goes well with pork and the meat itself was
definitely more tender. Sadly the skin wasn't very crispy though. |

Choi Bao - $5 (with the char sui bao)
(featured top left below)
I wasn't a big fan of this bun. It was quite dry, needed some sauce or stock in it.
The shiitake mushroom definitely overpowered the other vegetables,
leaving a strong flavour in my mouth. It was also quite hollow inside
leaving me with more bun than filling. |

Going clockwise:
Taro Bao - $2.50
I liked how natural the flavour was, subtly sweet, however the
paste was too thick and made it quite a dry bun.
Choi Bao - $5 (see above) Char Sui Bao - $5 (with choi bao)
Classic bbq pork bun. Great flavours, good amount of filling
and moist.
Nai Wong Bao - $2.50
I really enjoyed this flavour, great custard, egg flavour
but not too sweet again. However, like the taro one, it was
a really thick, solid mass of paste, that made it too dry and
heavy to eat much of. |
NB: Natasha dined free at Jay's Yogurt, but in no way does this influence her perspective in the review.
