Review: Workshop Brothers

Lazy Sunday afternoon lunch, craving cafe food. Nearby restaurant to my place, on the popular Glen Huntly Road.

Blue Heaven Milkshake - $6
A classic Aussie flavour. The colour truly
is a novelty for the child at heart.
In terms of consistency, it is quite watery,
I like my milkshakes with a bit of ice-cream whizzed in.
Otherwise the flavour was nice, tasted mostly like
vanilla, with an unusual hint, don't know
if it was berry.
Ice Mocha - $6
Strong coffee, but not too bitter, good amount
of chocolate syrup and a generous 2 scoops of ice-cream!
Workshop Benedict - $15.90
w/ braised ox cheek, spinach, poached eggs and harissa hollandaise.
Firstly the negatives, the spinach had a bitter taste to it, not sure
if it was cooked with the ox tongue or old oil, but I would've
preferred them fresh. The hollandaise also did not taste of harissa
to me, but I do have a high spice tolerance.
Serving size is average, but if you are looking for a big breakfast,
this dish won't fill you. Now moving on to the star of the dish,
the ox cheek was braised beautiful, and doused in plenty of sauce
to keep it juicy and moist
Cassoulet Le Fermier - $19.90
Not the most classic cassoulet. The dish was more of a thick stew
consistency, with very little soup or sauce. Leaving the whole dish
a bit dry. I didn't eat any duck, but the pork was cooked well
and they include a variety of meats with adds flavour to the dish.
All in all, great flavour, but small serving size and a bit dry.
