Review: Kalimera

Craving some souvlaki and what better place to go than Oakleigh with its abundance of Mediterranean offerings. Kalimera is one of the top rated restaurants in Oakleigh and it definitely lived up to the standard.

Chicken Skewer Platter - $16
The best dish of the night. I loved the tzatziki sauce, perfect level
of acidity and freshness to cut through those hot chips. The pita bread were
soft and crispy. The stars of the dish, those skewers mmm. They were seasoned
perfectly with salt, herbs and spices. They were also cooked well, moist, but
with a slightly charred flavour.

Pork Gyros Platter - $16
Not as good as my chosen platter. Sadly, the meat
just wasn't seasoned at all, and contained a lot of fatty
cuts. If only they had added a little salt and pepper,
and left it on the rotisserie for a shorter amount of time,
it would've also been more juicy.
The sides were all still excellent though

Chicken Souvlaki - $8
The chicken meat was definitely better than the pork. They just season
the meat better. If you are looking for a light meal or are a small eater,
than a simple souvlaki wrap is enough and is so cheap.
